Weather Window for Bahamas is Here! We hope.

We have been waiting all this time for a suitable weather window for the Bahamas. Tomorrow,  Saturday, looks like it may be the day. Everything continues to look good. We will check again in the morning and hopefully proceed.

We have been making daily bike rides to the grocery store to buy whatever provisions we have been using and things that we still needed.

The final items have been maintained on the boat. Can't think of anything else that needs to be done.

We plan to leave at first light, and with any luck the guys will get some fishing on the way across.

Here are some of the interesting photos taken over the passed week.
Iguana on the pier behind our boat.

You know you are having a bad day when you launch your truck and trailer into the water. This happened at the boat launch behind our boat at the marina.
Makes for interesting conversation during cocktails.
What excitement, police, fire trucks, and finally tow truck arrived. Then people started arriving to watch from every direction. The most excitement in this area for awhile.

The dockmaster didn't see what was going on. But he later told Peter that they had a sailboat run into the bridge once. The captain was very embarassed, claiming that he had circumnavigated the world twice with not problems like this. The captain said that is what happens when you lose your focus for a few moments. I guess it happens to the best, from time to time.

Biker down! Biker down!
Peter hamming it up while we wait for the bridge to go down.
Where does he come up with these ideas?

Biking around we saw this automatic grass lawnmower. There were 3 in the front yard of this one home. Zoomba lawnmowers. Never seen these before. It's a first. But then, why not.

Found some bums on Dania Beach Pier.

Bahamas bound trio, check out the wind and waves. Both too high today, but forecast looks good for Saturday.

Lunch out at the Dania Beach Pier. We may as well do some of the tourist things while we wait. 8 mile round trip bike ride should wear off some of those calories.
We have been doing more bike riding than anywhere we have stayed. Good exercise, and we need it for sure. There always seems to be something that we need somewhere. Florida is flat, so bike riding is fun. And most often there is a breeze of the ocean.

While anchored at Port Everglades we saw this big boat being towed in. Even the big boats have problems.

We moved the boat up to Port Everglades to be ready to make an early departure for the Bahamas. There are 2 bridges that we need to get opened for the sailboat to go under. We would rather do this in the daytime, than in the dark. We anchored off the ICW just north of the 17th St. Bridge. We thought it was a good spot, but the local police had another idea and asked us to move on toLake Sylvia for the night. Oh well. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

Depending on whether we arrange for communications and internet while we are in the Bahamas, we may not post to this blog till after the end of April. You can follow our AIS signal  via marine traffic.com, or look for our Find Me Spot signal. We will try to remember to send a signal at the beginning of each day and at the end of the day. Both are registered to the boat name, Surona.
